Call for an Expression of Interest: Tana High-Level Forum on Security, Annual Book Launch
June 16, 2023

The Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa (THLF) is inviting authors who have recently published a book on peace, security, governance, or development to express their interest in presenting their book at the Annual Book Launch. The THLF was established by the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University (AAU) and prominent African figures to facilitate frank discussions about the African continent’s security issues and challenges.

The theme for this year’s Forum is “Africa in an Evolving Global Order,” and the Forum will take place from 13-15 October 2023, in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. Selected authors will be invited to participate in a panel discussion and give a brief presentation on their book and its contribution to the field of peace and security. The panel discussion will be attended by a high-level audience of experts, government officials, and stakeholders, providing an opportunity to showcase your work and network with colleagues in the field.

To express your interest, please submit the following:

  • Book Title
  • Publication Date and Edition
  • Language
  • A brief statement on the book’s significance to the Forum (maximum 250 words)
  • Abstract (maximum 500 words)
  • Author(s) Biography and CV

Submitted work will be reviewed by the Book Launch Committee, and after abstracts are screened, shortlisted authors will be asked to submit the full text of the book in softcopy. Please note that only one book will be featured at the launch.

To submit your expression of interest, visit the link to apply by 1st August 2023. We look forward to receiving your submissions and a stimulating discussion at the Annual Book Launch.
