Postponement of the 9th Tana Forum
April 3, 2020

Dear friends,

In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and with the well-being of participants and staff as the utmost priority, the 9th Tana Forum has been postponed to 23-25 October 2020.

This decision was reached after consultations between the Tana Forum Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ethiopia. It is also in line with directives from the Office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia to cancel large meetings until further notice.

Under the theme “The AfCFTA: A Milestone for Pan-Africanism and Conflict Transformation”, the Forum was originally scheduled to take place from 24-26 April 2020 in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.

The Institute for Peace and Security Studies, which houses the Tana Forum Secretariat, has also taken measures to ensure and prioritize the safety of our staff and students. IPSS offices will remain closed to all visitors until further instructions are provided by Addis Ababa University.

Thank you for your continued support. It is our hope that this postponement will assure our stakeholders and partners that the Secretariat is managing the risk of this pandemic in a responsible and informed way.

Do not hesitate to contact us at info@ipss-addis.org with any questions or concerns. For the latest information, please visit us at www.ipss-addis.org and www.tanaforum.org.

We hope you keep safe and remain healthy.
