The Role of the Technical Committee

The Secretariat has established a Technical Committee to assist in the design of the annual conferences and related activities. The Technical Committee operates as a steering committee with the mission of advising the Tana Secretariat on the organisation of the annual Tana Forum. In particular, the Technical Committee aims to advise the Secretariat on the process and content to strengthen the Forum’s capacity to generate fruitful discussions on peace, conflict and security for all stakeholders involved.

The Technical Committee is required to provide advice on the following substantive matters:

• Identify and propose themes for the annual forum;
• Identify keynote speakers and session contributors;
• Review proposed contributions;
• Propose and refine the format and agenda;
• Identify and suggest participants based on the theme;
  
• Design panel discussions to address key issues and subtopics of the theme;
• Plan and develop supporting papers;
• Advise on media and profiling activities.
• Advise on pre and post Forum activities.
